I have created a questionnaire to hand out to some of our target audience members to find out what they would prefer or expect to see on an alternative genre band's digipak. The results of the questionnaire will hopefully help us when it comes to creating the digipak in terms of colour scheme, photo type, price, track listing, and other elements that need to be included. Once i have collected the results from the questionnaire i will present results in graphs to see clearer what our demographic expects.

Band logo
Over the past week, our group member, Bethany has created our band in our music video's logo. This logo was first sketched by hand. Then digital drawn on Adobe Fireworks using many different tools to create a professional and unique logo. As well as the logo maybe making apprentice on the digipak and advert, it will be use as a skin for the bass drum in our final cut to make our band look real. Furthermore, the logo Bethany has created will give our band a brand and an image. This will reinforce the idea of our band's image of being very cool, indie and mysterious towards our target audience. On the logo we decided that an across should be included in the logo as the word 'Exodus' mean the departure of people and this is linked with the meaning of the 'Tiptoe'. As the lyrics show connotations with people escaping from social norms and being free and their own person. We used black and red in the logo as we wanted to make sure that the name Exodus pops out and to make sure that the audience is catcher by this name. Below is a photo of our logo being computerised.

9th November Filming
In today's filming session, we shot the group dance scene, which is one of the parts the narrative. The location we used for this filming session was a dance studio called Stages School of Dance in North Shields. This studio was fantastic to use as it look very proffessional and is a big contrast compared to the dark drama studio we used for the solo dance scenes. Furthermore, as we needed a group of dancers we hadf to locate some great dancers to be able to keep the standard of the music video. To be able to achieve this we used dancers from on our groups dance school. We used four girls. The costume we designed for them was them to be all in white and floaty. There hair and make up was very natural and bare as we wanted them to look like angels.
In this filming session we used many different types of equpiment. The equpiment we used was a crane, shoulder mount and dolly. We used the crane to create long sweeping shots for the main dance performance sequences. This made us able to capture all of the dancers in one shot as well as focusing on our main actor. In this filming session, we used the shoulder mount to achieve close up as mid-shots. The shoulder mount also helped to create some unusual angles to make it look chaotic. Furthermore, we used the dolly in this filming session to create slow pans across the studio of the full dance sequences, with the group of dancers and our main actor.

Magazine Advert Research - Biffy Clyro
As this advert is promoting the band Biffy Clyro which is a alternative rock band, the colours used on this advert go from dark to light. This could suggest to the reader that the band are very light and free above, however the the band have underlayers of being very dark and mysterious. In our advert we could use this idea of using colours to show the representation of the bands message in this album. As the song we have chosen has a serious message of people escaping social norms.
Furthermore, the main of image of this advert is two frozen lions. By using this image of the lion, which usually have the connations of being brave and vallient. This could infer to the reder that this band used to be brave and dramatic but have changed their sound in their music from the past. In our advert for the digipak, we would not use the idea of using an image with superior connations as the band of the song we have chosen are very minimalistic and serious.
The band name and album name are bother very bold on the advert. The name of the band is in the colour white, it links to the top of the advert. As the white part of the advert is at the open part of the water. This suggests to the reader tha the band could be very open and free with their music. However, the name of the album is in a pale blue. This would infer to the reader of the advert that the ablum is deeper than just the surface. In our advert for the digipak, we could use this idea of the text being in the colours of the background photo to suggest different different meaning of the album. As this song has many different meanings to it.

Magazine Advertisment : Kasabian

The main image on this magazine advert is the majorlty the whole page. By the designer placing the image like this, it suggests to the reader that this image is very important to the band and it could even be the album cover. Furthermore, this image has many different rich colours in it. By doing this it makes the image pop out from the plain background. This could infer to the reader that this band could have many different aspects to it. In our magazine advet we would not use a very colourful image as we want a band's brand to be very dark and mysterious and if we used a colourful image it was suggest the complete opposite.
On this magazine advert it has many reviews underneath the main image. Both of these reviews are five star. The colour of the font of the reviews it same shade of red to the bow that has the name of the album on it. By doing this it connects the two together and shows to the reader that the reviews are about this album. In our magazine advert for our music video we could use this idea of joining very important parts of the review using the same colour. As this draws the reader's attensionm straight away towards the most important parts of the advert.
The name of the band 'Kasabian' is plastered across the main image. By the designer of the advert using this technique on the advert it gets straight to the point of who this advert is for and catches the eye of the reader as well. Futhermore, the font of the name is in a contrasting font compared to the photo. As the main image is tradtional and the font is very gritty and unique. This could suggest to the reader that the band is controversal and are pushing the normal acceptence. We could use this idea of contrasting the image and the font to suggest a brand of the band, as it could show our band as mysterious, which is what we want.
Magazine Advert Research: The Killers
The main image on this The Killers album advert is the actually the album cover. Which is the majority of the advert. By doing, it will make the reader remember this album cover, causing the reder to associate the colours and the texture with this advert. Furthermore, there is a gradient from the album cover to black, which will stop the reader from getting distracted with other bold colours. In our magazine advert we will probably use the same idea of placing the digipaks front cover as the main image, as we want to be able to make the examiners remember us out of many magazine adverts.
The name of the band is plastered across the advert in a bold font and a contrasting colour to the background. By the desginer of the advert formulating it this way, it will be able to show a contrast between the layers of the advert. In our advert, will probably not make the name of the bands colours and fonts too contrsting as we want to be able to maintain a house style that matches our digipak as well.
However, on this advert they have not added in reviews for this album which is subverting the usual convention. By the designer not adding in these features it will cause the reader to be very mysterious of the album as there is no real insight into the album. On our advert we could use this idea as an image we want to be able to portray is that our band is very mysterious and serious about there music.
Magazine Advertisement: Florence & The Machine
The name of the artist is at the top of the advert. The font of the text is very floaty and curled. This suggests to the reader of the magazine that the artist is very relaxed and alternative. Furthermore, this font creates an image for the artist and makes them more memorable towards their target audience. In our magazine advert for the music video we could use the technique of creating a brand. If we followed through with this idea we would use the brand throughout the magazine advertisement and the digipak.
This picture of the digipak covers most of the advert and also is placed in the center. By the designer placing the image in this way, this infers to the reader that the image of the digipak is the most important thing on magazine advertisement. Furthermore, the placement of the image maskes it very eyecatching towards the reader. In our magazine advert for the music video we will probably place our main image of the front cover of the digipak as this is a main convention of a magazine advert for an album.
In addtition, at the bottom of the magazine advert the designer has included the formats of what the album will come in. By doing this it can show the reader what type of artist they are. For example, this advert for Florence and the Machine the format for the album comes in CD, deluxe CD, vinyl and digital. From showing this on advert it gives the reader vital information as well as suggesting to the reader that this artist is quite alternative as there album will be avaible on vinyl. On our advert, we could use this technique to show the artist's genre. As our band's image is dark, mysterious and is serious about there music.
