Song Ideas

Vampire Weekend - Step

This song is about peoples relationship with music and feelings of possessiveness over the bands/songs you like. It uses the metaphor of a nameless girl that they get protective about. Through the song they come to terms with the fact that music doesn't in fact belong to you. It's about maturing and realizing it doesn't matter if the music you like is obscure or mainstream.

Arctic Monkeys - Old Yellow Bricks

The song is about someone running away because all that's left is nostalgia. Someone's running away perhaps because all that's left is nostalgia. They have came to the end of their patience and try to escape the reality by running away. The same old surroundings course discomfort and even though it's risky running away, it might have its rewards. This song can be used for lots of different  occasions in life, meaning we have a large choice of ways we can interpret the video. It also has a British middle class form meaning the location etc around us will fit the songs style.

Imagine Dragons - Tiptoe

This song was published in 2012 by the American Alternative Rock band. There are many interpretations that are shown in this song. One I particularly liked was the idea of evolving one's identity and breaking free from the socially accepted norm. The lyrics throughout the song show someone escaping what is said to be 'normal' and becoming who they really are, gradually getting higher on the social scale. The chorus always refers back to the song title 'Tiptoe', reflecting this person's small steps, 'Tiptoeing' higher and higher and setting themselves free. I think this song could have a very strong narrative side, as well as a good performance aspect which is key for a good music video.
